Hamptons Inspired

Completion : 2016
Porcelain & Stone Smooth Cabinets
Stratus White Work Surfaces

About the space:

This space was inspired by the New England style of ‘The Hampton’s, an elegant take on shaker.

The original kitchen consisted of oak cabinets and black granite work surfaces, which made the room dark because the room is north facing. The home owners brief was something light, fresh and with as many reflective surfaces as possible to make the most of the light from the rooms many windows.

We didn’t have much of a brief other than Diane Keaton’s kitchen in the movie ‘Somethings Gotta Give’- however that kitchen had black work surfaces too, and these would not work in this brief. Instead we opted for a light marble quartz.

The space is divided in to a number of areas, so it was necessary to fit two sinks. One for washing vegetables and filling pots for the hob, and the other for dishes etc.

There are also two ovens, one is the range cooker and the second is a combination microwave oven with grill. This is a small oven when needed, but also can be used as microwave and a grill- all without removing any of the metalwork.

All food is stored on one side of the kitchen. An ‘American fridge freezer houses all fresh and frozen food, with larders on each side. One larder stores fresh bread, fruit and vegetables and the other all tinned and long-life foods.

January sale is now on. 15% of new kitchens and 10% of refurbishments.
